Most of the poems on this page were not originally meant to be a
part of the "My Father's Pen" collection. These selections were Shirl's personal messages to family and friends. When
it became difficult for Shirl to get out to purchase cards for special times (i.e.- birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's
Day, anniversaries, funerals, etc.), she would write a beautiful poem or letter. With her added element of love, these poems
were absolute treasures, far better than any store-bought card.
With her recent passing, I felt these words needed to be read. The
love originally placed in each entry comes alive for me, as I hope it does for you. My love for her will last eternally.
