To You Mother
MOTHER is the sweetest name
That could ever be;
But there are no words to describe
How much she means to me.
She gave me birth and watched me grow
The tears she shed
When in my trials
Must have hurt her so.
Her smile so warm and tender
Filled with love for me;
A graceful strength within her
Like the strongest tree.
Her love is never ending
Her kindness never spent;
She’s –in spirit- always with me
Everywhere I’ve went.
And if I could see you Mother
If I could take your hand;
To hear your friendly voice
Across this distant land.
You’re the sunshine of my day
You’re all that’s good and true;
The love light shining in your eyes
Shines from within your heart too.
Always with a pleasant word
A kind thought for the day;
The smile upon your tender lips
As you sent me on life’s way.
There will always be your picture
Imprinted in my heart;
To you Mother I owe my good points
My bad points are my own;
May God love and guide you
And guard you ‘til I’m home.
